When I look at some of the food in our pantry and freezer, I see the labor of sweet family and friends who were kind enough to share their harvest bounty. I never want to take that generosity for granted, so I've been learning about different preservation methods. This winter, their kindness will fill our bellies with eggs, garlic, onions, and more.

One day, Lord willing, we'll have our own homestead. We don't currently have much land and we don't have a big kitchen, but we do have the ability to learn. I'm trying to make the most of this time in waiting and the resources we have available.

You don't have to have a homestead to be able to prepare for your family's needs or to cook meals from scratch. It just takes time, determination, and a bit of a mindset shift 😊

#ad It’s hard to believe back-to-school season is already upon us. Our homeschool co-op starts in just a couple weeks, and I can’t believe Eleanor is already a first grader. We recently spent an afternoon on a mama-daughter date to do some shopping for fall clothes and to shop during @belk’s back to school sale.

We’ve honestly had a hard time finding cute, modest clothing now that she’s moved up to the next size. It’s like once you move from the little girl section to the big girls, suddenly everything is crop tops or covered in glitter and sequins.

One of the few stores where we’ve been able to find cute clothes for Eleanor is @belk. They have a really nice selection of big girls clothing with everything from athleisure wear to fancy dresses. Their denim selection is also top notch. We were able to find everything we still needed for her fall wardrobe. She was so excited that she insisted on changing into her new dress right away.

Belk also has a great selection of homegoods that would be great for dorm life. They had huge sales on their bedding and kitchen wares while we were there.

I don't share a ton of specifics about the health

I don't share a ton of specifics about the health needs of my girls on social media. That being said, we would covet your prayers today as this newly minted 7 year old has her lip and tongue tie released and begins myofunctional therapy later this week.

It should be a simple procedure, but because of her age, it'll require anesthesia which isn't my favorite 🥴

We're really excited for this step in her journey and what it could mean for healing, both body and mind. We really feel like the Lord has guided our steps to this and given us wisdom in pursuing this.

If you're a Mama who is considering whether or not to have a tie released for your kiddo, and a Dr has blown off your concerns, please get a second opinion. It's truly not as simple as, "They're nursing and gaining weight well, so they'll be totally fine."

For some kids, a tongue or lip tie doesn't have any lasting impacts. For others, an oral tether can contribute to issues like: food aversions, difficulty sleeping (resulting in ADHD like symptoms), sensory difficulties, airway issues, tooth decay, migraines and tension headaches, speech delays, shoulder tightness, etc. The more I've researched ties, the more my mind has been 🤯🤯 it's truly amazing how the smallest piece of tissue connects the entire body!

Y’all this girl is a HAM 🤣🤣 She has such a fun personality. Her name means “Bringer of Joy,” and it is so, so fitting for her!

We recently decided to change diaper brands, because we were consistently not able to find the size we needed in the kind we were previously using. We’ve been SO pleased with @get.dyper, and I’m so grateful we tried them and have been able to partner with them! They're legitimately the softest diapers I've ever felt and genuinely so much more absorbent than others we've tried.

DYPER makes their diapers without chlorine, phthalates, perfumes, PVC, Latex, etc 🙌🏼🙌🏼 They’re derived from plants and naturally hypoallergenic. DYPER also strives to be carbon AND plastic neutral (they use 4X less plastic than traditional diapers!).
