The summer of Eleanor’s first birthday, I discovered Swimzip and purchased our very first rash guard and sun hat. Being the thrifty mama that I am, I sized up and she’s now worn that same rash guard for 3 summers. I’m not exaggerating when I say that it is still in amazing condition. When other moms ask me my favorite products and/or brands for kids, SwimZip always comes to mind. When we decided to work together, you should have seen my face. I was seriously SO excited! I genuinely LOVE this brand and believe in their products 1000%.
what is swimzip?
SwimZip makes swimwear for the whole family with skin protection being their top priority. All of their fabrics are rated UPF 50+ and they have both suits and rash guards for babies through adults. Their rash guards are a GAME CHANGER. Raise your hand if you’ve ever been annoyed trying to peel a wet rash guard off of your squirming child. I know I have been. SwimZip’s rash guards do exactly what their name suggests–they zip up the front (and have a special tab at the top to prevent pinching chins) which makes them so easy to put on/take off. And as I mentioned before, the fabric is very high quality. It doesn’t fade over time and washes very well.
who can wear this swim gear?
Everyone! This year, we were able to get swimwear for the whole family. SwimZip sizes start at 0-3 months and go all the way up to 3XL. There are several matching options if that’s your thing! I have really loved both my swimsuit and my rash guard. It’s a very flattering cut, modest (so I can actively play with Eleanor without worrying about any accidents if you know what I mean), and the fabric is top notch. It runs pretty true to size and I’m wearing the same size I wear from department stores. The one thing I will say is that if you have a very hairy chest, maybe avoid the white rash guard LOL As soon as Jeremy gets in the water, his chest hair becomes very visible haha We’ll definitely be getting him a darker color next summer.
Is it worth the price?
The one negative I hear when I recommend SwimZip is that it’s too expensive. Now, is it more expensive than running to Target or Old Navy and buying a swimsuit? Definitely. HOWEVER, I truly believe that this is one of those times where it is worth the investment. Here’s why–Eleanor has been able to wear her first rash guard for 3 summers. She can still wear it even now. It’s a little short in the arms, but other than that, it’s still in great condition and fits everywhere else. Not only that, but it cuts in half the amount of sunscreen we need when we wear our rash guards. We spend a lot of time outside and always use sunscreen. These will easily pay for themselves with the amount we save buying less sunscreen.
I can’t end this post without talking about this hat, ya’ll. The sun hats for kids are AMAZING. They are designed to fit them for years because there’s an elastic draw string that can be adjusted to fit the exact size of their head. Eleanor wore hers at age one and I can literally wear the same hat (They do make adult sized ones also, but I don’t have one and can’t speak to it specifically). It also has a breakaway clip on the neck strap to prevent choking hazards and the brim goes all the way around, so she gets coverage on the back of her neck too. Eleanor wears hers pretty much any time we play outside.
Swimzip will always be our go to for family swimsuits
If you couldn’t tell, SwimZip was really intentional in all of their designs. It’s so obvious that they took the time to thoughtfully consider the needs of both adults and children. I really can’t recommend them more highly. We’ve been loyal customers for 3 years now, and we’ll definitely be purchasing SwimZip for years to come. Keeping ourselves and our kiddo safe in the sun is really important to us. SwimZip takes the worry away because we know our skin is protected while we enjoy our time outside.
